Vladimir Tyan is a Cologne-based illustrator and graphic designer working across editorial and book illustration, character design, and mixed media.
He studied at the British Higher School of Art and Design (BHSAD, Moscow), completing the Foundation programme in Art and Design (2015–2016) and the Illustration course led by Victor Melamed (2016–2018).
His commissioned work includes illustrations for The Price of Utopia by historian Mikhail Davydov (Novoe Literaturnoe Obozrenie, 2022), as well as a portrait series for the opening of the theatre season at Shalom Theatre, Moscow (2025).
His work is rooted in drawing and printmaking — ink, charcoal, dry brush — with a focus on the human figure in motion and a high-contrast graphic language.
